While we understand that every person is different, and that each situation is unique, we find it quite normal for the decision to declutter usually comes to people during 1 of 4 stages in their life:
- Families with young children seeking freedom from the constant picking up and putting away of all things pertaining to childhood.
- Couples or singles looking to downsize from one house to another due to inability to maintain the upkeep of the house or yard as they once were able to do. There is also issues of job loss, divorce, or a loss of a spouse that can be the cause for having to downsize.
- Elderly singles or couples deciding they don’t want to leave the burden of having to take care of their belongings to their children or appointed heirs.
- Those that have lost their parents or grandparents and are now faced with a lifetime of belongings.
While they may be categorized, each and every person going through 1 of these 4 stages is an individual that is dealing with these issues in their own way. Sometimes they are alone, sometimes there is family to help, and sometimes there is family there that makes the work 10 times as hard to accomplish. This is especially true with cases of divorce or cases of estates where siblings do not have a loving relationship. No matter the relationship, no matter the past, there are belongings to work through so that everyone can enter the next season of their life. Declutter Planning will help make that transition as easy as possible when it comes to deciding who gets what, and what happens to the rest.
